Oddball Walking Dragline Open Days at St Aidan's

The Friends of St Aidan's open up Oddball, the preserved 1948 Bucyrus Erie BE1150 walking dragline that dug opencast coal at Swillington until the 1980s and is claimed as the largest preserved walking dragline in Western Europe. On open days visitors can walk around the 1,200 tonne machine, go inside and sit in the driver's seat; dates are announced by the Friends, with a September opening traditionally held during Heritage Open Days week.
