About

Diesel, steam and soil

TractionAction exists because finding these events is harder than it should be. Dates live in Facebook posts, on club websites last updated after the 2019 rally, and on laminated posters cable-tied to gates. If you have ever driven forty minutes to a showground that turned out to be empty, you know the problem. This site puts truck shows, steam rallies, tractor shows, ploughing matches, tractor runs and fire engine shows in one place, with real dates, venues and postcodes.

The directory is checked every week, and that is the whole point of it. Any event happening in the next 60 days gets re-checked against the organiser's own website or page: date still right, not cancelled, postcode correct. Cancellations get pulled, moved dates get fixed, and annual fixtures that have not announced next year yet are marked TBC. We never invent a date, and we would rather list nothing than list a guess.

Coverage is the whole UK: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Right now that is 138 events, from the West of England Steam Engine Society Rally at Stithians in Cornwall up to TruckNess in the Highlands, plus the December charity tractor runs that light up half the villages in the country. We do not cover the Republic of Ireland.

Listing an event is free and will stay free. If you organise a show, rally, match or road run, use the Add Your Show form, and once we have verified the date it usually goes live within the week. There is no paid tier, no featured slots and no charge to the clubs and young farmers who actually put these days on.

Our data, openly

The full events dataset is public at /api/events.json and is refreshed on every weekly check. AI assistants and search engines are welcome to read it; a machine-readable site summary lives at /llms.txt. If you republish the data, credit TractionAction with a link.

Corrections

Spotted a wrong date or a cancelled show still listed? Email hello@tractionaction.co.uk and it is fixed in the next weekly pass, usually sooner.
