Truck shows, steam rallies, tractor shows, ploughing matches, tractor runs and fire engine shows, anywhere in the UK. That runs from three-day weekends like the Bedfordshire Steam & Country Fayre in September down to a Sunday morning ploughing match in a farmer's field.

Every event happening in the next 60 days gets checked weekly against the organiser's own website or page, and we fix anything that has moved or been cancelled. Where an annual fixture has not announced next year's date yet, we mark it as TBC rather than guessing.

Most sit between free and about £15 for an adult day ticket, and plenty (tractor runs, some ploughing matches, fire station open days) cost nothing to watch. From the current listings, the Yorkshire Traction Engine Rally has day tickets from £6 and the Weald of Kent Ploughing Match is £10 in advance with under-12s free.

Usually yes, on a lead, but it varies by event, so check the organiser link on each listing before you set off. Bear in mind steam rallies are loud and shadeless, and not every dog wants to stand next to a traction engine whistle for six hours.

Nearly all of these events run in the rain; it is the ground giving way under car parking that cancels things, not the weather itself. Bring wellies from September onwards, and if a field does become undriveable the organiser announces it on their own channels, which are linked from every listing.

At the bigger multi-day steam rallies and truck shows, usually yes, with public camping or exhibitor pitches booked through the organiser. One-day ploughing matches and tractor runs generally have no camping at all, and where it exists it normally needs booking ahead rather than turning up.

You give us your postcode and every Thursday morning we email you the shows coming up within reach of home. It is free, it is one short email, and the unsubscribe link works first time.

Fill in the Add Your Show form with the basics and, once we have verified the date against your own site or page, it goes into the directory, usually within the week. Listings are free for organisers and stay free.

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, so the whole UK, from Cornwall steam rallies to truck shows in the Highlands. We do not list events in the Republic of Ireland.

Yes, most are proper family days out, with working machinery you can get close to, trailer rides and usually a funfair at the bigger rallies. Pack ear defenders for small children, because steam whistles and truck air horns go off without warning.

Cash for the burger van and the club raffle, wellies if it has rained that week, ear defenders for young children, and sun cream, because showgrounds have no shade. Most bigger events take cards now, but the best bacon roll on the field is often still cash-only.

We catch most changes in the weekly check and update or remove the listing, and sooner if someone emails us. Even so, before a long drive it is worth a ten-second look at the organiser's page linked from the listing.
