Britain's classic car calendar is enormous, and the best of it is a superb day out whether or not you own a classic. A big show puts thousands of restored cars in one place with their owners stood beside them, usually delighted to talk, and the rallies and runs add the thing a museum cannot: machinery that moves, sounds and smells as it did when it was new.

The season has a rhythm. The Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show opens it at the NEC in March, summer belongs to the outdoor gatherings from Tatton Park to Glamis Castle, July brings Goodwood's Festival of Speed and the BRDC Classic on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, and the Goodwood Revival turns the whole of its motor circuit back to the 1950s in September. The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show then closes the year across seven halls of the NEC in November, the same month hundreds of pre-1905 veterans leave Hyde Park at dawn for Brighton.

We list the set-piece events people travel for: the big shows, the rallies on grass, the hill climbs and the historic race meetings, each with the date from the organiser's own site and the venue postcode so the near-me search takes you to the gate rather than the club office. Weekly meets and coffee mornings are deliberately left out so the real days out stay findable.

When is the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026?

The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show runs Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November 2026 at the NEC Birmingham, B40 1NT. It is the UK's biggest indoor classic car show, filling seven halls with cars, motorcycles and hundreds of club stands.

When is the Goodwood Revival 2027?

17 to 19 September 2027 at the Goodwood Motor Circuit near Chichester, PO18 0PH. The Festival of Speed runs earlier in the summer, 15 to 18 July 2027, in the grounds of Goodwood House, and the Members' Meeting opens Goodwood's year on 10 and 11 April.

What is the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run?

The world's longest-running motoring event, held on the first Sunday of November. Hundreds of pre-1905 cars leave Hyde Park from sunrise and drive 60 miles to Madeira Drive in Brighton. Watching from the roadside anywhere along the route is free, and the Brighton seafront finish is the best grandstand.

Are classic car shows a good day out if you don't own a classic?

Yes. Most visitors are not exhibitors, and the owners on club stands are often the best part of the day, full of stories about the cars they brought. The outdoor rallies usually add autojumbles, arena displays and often tractors, steam engines and military vehicles on the same field.

Why are weekly classic car meets not listed here?

There are hundreds of cars-and-coffee mornings and pub meets every week, and listing them would bury the events worth travelling for. We stick to the set-piece shows, rallies, runs and historic race meetings.

Why do some events here have no confirmed date?

Organisers publish next year's dates at different times, often months after the current edition closes. Rather than guess, we list those events as annual fixtures with their usual month and add the exact dates the week they are announced.
